An Empty Room
It had been a while since Zel had time off. A whole week even! The scions had no jobs lined up or other pressing matters, and Tataru insisted that the Warriors of Light take a break, leaving Zel and X'raehl with a week to themselves.
But of course, as well as the two fit together, their natural circadian rhythms were wildly differnt, leading to near opposite sleep patterns. As such, there were many late nights where Zel was awake by herself while her partner caught up on much needed sleep.
Not wanting to bother him, she found herself at her Free Company's house. Of course, with the exception of Koh, most of the other members were also diurnal, and thus she decided to wander around the cottage, careful not to disturb those that were sleeping.
It was during these wanderings that Zel found the empty room.
Small, unassuming, and out of the way, the room was dark, musty, and filled with nothing but cobwebs and dust bunnies, and a single Ahriman cupboard that was faded, broken, and full of holes. The windows were so caked over and forgotten that light barely made its way in. As far as rooms went, it truely was a sorry little location.
But to Zel, it was perfect.
The first couple of nights were spent quietly cleaning, gradually transforming the room from a dusty nightmare into a pristine paradise. Now all she had to do was figure out what to actually do with the room.
The next night, she was struck with a flash of genius. She knew precisely what this room needed. Suddenly she had a goal, something to do! So in those quiet, dark hours when none of her friends were around, she would gather items she needed, then spend time in that lonely, lovely room, crafting away. A bed in this corner, a shelf on that wall, some cute lights. Bit by handcrafted bit, the room took shape.
By the end of the week, it was finally looking close to how she wanted. The scent of live plants and flowers filled the room, along with the smell of fresh, clean bed linens. She had even found time to fix up the Ahriman cupboard and give it a new coat of paint.
Zel took a moment to look over her hard work. The free company house now had the medical facility it so desperately needed, with two comfortable beds and an ample stock of herbs, potions, and various other sundry supplies. With a cozy little infirmary like this, even if her friends got sick or injured, they would at least have a nice place to rest.
