I adore rice crispy treats. I love them made with other cereals too. Unfortunately, I can’t really eat them much. I have been enjoying Magic Spoon cereal lately, even if it’s a little pricey, it’s not that bad when you remember it’s a protein source rather than a carbohydrate source, so it ends up not being that bad of a deal.

For a while i was looking up recipes on sugar free marshmallows but came to the conclusion that like most candy, sugar was an important part of the chemical process for making marshmallows in the first place, along with gelatine. So making my own using the cereal I had wasn’t going to be very feasible.

A single bar treat bar, still in package. Has the same text as the outer box. On the right side of the package there is the same cereal bar with eyes.

Recently Magic Spoon started making their own “treats” bars, which are very reminiscent of the sugary treats I grew up with.

It’s a protein bar, but its really tasty. Like you could actually have this as a good post workout snack. It’s made of tiny protein puffs so it ends up with a fluffy-crunchy texture rather than the dense and hard to chew kind like they used to make (I think I still have one in the pantry, maybe I should make a page for it). It really ends up feeling and tasting pretty indulgent. Or maybe that’s just me.

A marshmallow treats bar sitting on a small brown plate. It looks similar to a rice crispy treat bar, and has a drizzle of white icing on top.

Anyway, I absolutely love these, and really hope they make more flavors.

Other Flavors:
Chocolatey Peanut Butter
