Year of the Dragon
It's heavensturn once again!
I love the Heavensturn event. The backstory is that travellers from the Far East have come to Eorzea to share their culture, especially their celebration of the start of the year. While Eorzeans dedicate each year to one of the Twelve, those of the East instead dedicate theirs to one of 12 sacred beasts.
Of course, these are based on the Chinese zodiac, and this year happens to be Year of the Dragon. The true year of the dragon doesn’t actually start until Lunar New Year, which this year in 2024 will be on February 10.
Now, as far as FFXIV is concerned, Dragons don’t actually exist in the East, and the beast they have is instead the Ryu, which in real world terms is the Japanese word for an eastern dragon, but functionally they are water serpents, such as our good friend Seiryu. Dragons, on the other hand, are space aliens.
Anyway Xarale and I did the event and got a cute little chocobo chick pet dressed as a ryu.
They also brought back the Omijkuji (a form of Japanese fortune telling) from last year. Sadly, this year isn’t really looking great for poor little Zel.
Grave misfortune!
Thou shalt experience considerable misfortune. Heed these words of guidance, and they luck may change.
Adventure: Thou shalt not be blessed with the weather. Abide in patience.
Relationships: The flower is beyond thy reach. Seek it to thy sorrow.
Prosperity: Seek not profit in gilded halls. Let the amusement be its own reward.

Favor: Be forebearing like unto the Matron, and the seeds of new friendships shall quicken for thee.
Zel’s big sis Hahama’s forecast is "Misfortune."

Relationships: Forget not thy kindness in the midst of cnoflict.
Prosperity: Fret not over excess stock. It shall not go to waste.
Conflict: Even in victory, they heart's desire shall elude thee. Perserverance is the key!
Favor: To resolve dilemmas as confounding as the Scholar's scroll, though mist seek new wisdom.
And last but not least, unless you mean in braincells, is Zel’s dad, Saki’a who got "Fair Fortune".
Adventure: Gather thine allies, and embark upon a journey to remember.
Relationships: Nothing good will come of waiting. Participate in a gathering hosted by adventurers.
Prosperity: Wealth lieth in the seas and the skies. Send forth vessels to explore.
Conflict: Dwell not overmuch in sweet victory, or bitter defeat shall follow.
Favor: Be wise like unto the Scholar, and thou shalt find a way to overcome misfortune.
